My Story
A passion for sustainability education and online learning facilitation.
I am Mary Collacott - an online learning facilitator and researcher, specialising in Learning for Sustainability and passionate about participatory and transformative approaches to learning.
I am a teacher, lifelong learner and passionate educationalist. I believe in the transformative power of learning for sustainability and a better, more equitable future for all.
I started out over ten years ago as a primary school teacher working in a rural town in England. I was given responsibility for Learning Outside the Classroom across the school and this was what ignited my passion for outdoor learning and engaging children with the world around them.
From here, I moved to Switzerland to teach Science in an international school. Here I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to learn from and with some truly inspirational colleagues as to how to integrate outdoor and experiential learning into the curriculum.
I completed a Masters in Outdoor Environmental and Sustainability Education at University of Edinburgh in 2015, which reinforced and further developed my passion for learning for sustainability. This led me out of the classroom and into what I do now - working with other people looking to deepen their engagement with sustainability and creating transformative and participatory learning experiences for all.
